The Mag minnows are well matched for a fishing technique called "ripping" perfectly, in which the lure is retrieved very rapidly. As the lure is burned across the water it can be jerked to produce even more variable movements. This technique works great not only for largemouth but even it is tremendously well suited for fast swimming species like Striped Bass.

The Mag Minnows provide work for some of the latest technology in lure design...and the features work well. Yo-Zuri Mag-Minnows are effective for both saltwater and freshwater applications.

The Mag Minnows internal chamber houses one magnet and two steel bearings. On a cast, the magnet and steel balls shift to the back of the lure for maximum casting distance. Once the lure splashes down and you begin the retrieve, the balls are locked in the belly of the lure (via magnetic attraction) to provide a balanced, irresistible wiggling action that mimics an injured baitfish. Because the balls (weights) come to rest in the lure's mid-section during the retrieve the center of the lure becomes anchored, thus while retrieving at varying speeds the lures still have a nice even motion.
